ALYCE HATCH CENTER TO SPONSOR FOOD AND WINE TASTING EVENTSeptember 24th Fundraiser to Benefit Early Childhood Programs at the Center
BEND, Ore, Aug. 23, 2004 -- Wendy Bliesner, a member of the board of directors of the Alyce Hatch Center, Inc., announced today that the Alyce Hatch Center will be sponsoring the 2nd annual “For the Love of Wine” food and wine tasting event on Friday, September 24, 2004 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The event will take place at the Alyce Hatch Center located at 1406 NW Juniper St (corner of Newport and Juniper). Tickets for the event are $40 and includes a commemorative wine glass and all featured wine and food tastings and entertainment. Tickets can be purchased at the Alyce Hatch Center, from board members, the night of the event or by calling 389-7632. Space is limited. All funds raised from the event will go directly to support the growing operational costs of the Center and to the programs for the special needs kids at the Center.
“Based on the success of our 2003 event, we have created a tradition of social and gastronomic pleasure by combining the best of food and wine that Central Oregon region has to offer,” said Bliesner. Local restaurants and caterers will provide samplings of their signature dishes paired with wine tastings provided by local wine merchants. Bliesner added, “The ‘For the Love of Wine’ will also feature an extensive silent auction throughout the night along with the popular cigar and port tent, ending the night out with an exciting raffle drawing. Attendees are encouraged to talk to the restaurants and wine stewards along with joining in on a wine tasting appreciation class. Given the response to last year’s event, we are very excited carry on the tradition again with another night of fabulous food, wine and fun. The event drew more than 125 people last year raising more than $10,000 and we’re eager to beat that this year.”
Ann Elkin, president of the Alyce Hatch Center, Inc. said, “The expanded Center has allowed us to offer services to all eligible children and their families, prepare for enrollment growth, provide adequate office space for staff, and add new programs such as preschool classes and health services.” The Alyce Hatch Center, Inc. commenced operations in the basement of a church in Bend in 1975 and the existing center at the corner of Juniper and Newport in Bend was built in 1985 with mostly donated time, materials and labor. We believe that “For the Love of Wine” will be an excellent way to showcase our top-notch preschool for very special children, while at the same time giving our guests a chance to sample some great food and wine,” added Elkin.
The Alyce Hatch Center, which is located at 1406 NW Juniper St. in Bend, is a regional resource for young, disabled children and their families. Services provided at the center are designed to address the special education and therapeutic needs of children from birth to five years of age. The Alyce Hatch Center has been assisting with the needs of these children with special needs since 1975. |
